#MerciCoach – Georges Gay – “Georges is an exceptional coach who makes triathlon accessible to all.”

September 24, 2021

“Here’s my little note for an exceptional coach, the one and only Georges Gay coach of the Élite triathlon club! Always smiling, always positive, always attentive to his athletes. Georges and his girlfriend Julie Vassivière had a dream: to create a club offering elite-level training to athletes of all levels and ages. They worked days and nights, weeks and weekends, in addition to their respective jobs, to set up the club and put in place training programs for both youngsters and adults. Georges keeps abreast of all the latest developments so that we can all benefit from them. And it’s often at night that he reads all these books! They have redoubled their efforts to keep the club alive during the COVID, to keep everyone motivated, to find another way of training together but at a distance. The return to outdoor training has done us a world of good. Just look at his smile in the photo! Georges is passionate about triathlon. There’s no better ambassador than him for this wonderful sport, especially among young people. He believes in young people. He’s working hard to get more young people into triathlon, and to set up Triathlon Québec’s age-appropriate programs. Triathlon is now offered at Collège Ste-Anne in Lachine. I suspect that youth triathlon doesn’t have the same budget as field hockey or soccer. But one thing’s for sure: they don’t have Georges Gay! We train as a family, parents and children. It’s a great example of health for our children, a bond between us and a driving force for the future.”

“As long as I’ve known him, he’s never stopped training, whether it’s passing his increasingly advanced certifications in triathlon, running or swimming, or incorporating the latest advances in performance or nutrition into his programs. But that’s nothing, because those who know him know that the magic lies not in his knowledge, but in the person he is. At the edge of the field, he’s always on hand, rain or shine, to show us the right move, offer sound advice or a word of encouragement with his infectious good humor. Georges is not only a top-notch coach, but also one of triathlon’s best ambassadors to institutions, schools and our business partners. He has a vision of the sport that he shares with a simplicity and conviction that makes you want to surpass yourself. He’s the kind of coach who inspires. When I joined Élite triathlon, I had only come looking for a coach, and I found an inspiring man and a friend who has accompanied me through all my athletic challenges. So, thank you coach!”

“Georges has been my coach since I started triathlon (2013). We’ve evolved together through three clubs (Les Rapides, Phoenix and Élites). He’s an exceptional coach, who studies, takes classes, asks questions and has helped me improve my technique every year. He takes the time to explain what we need to do in many different ways: with educational exercises, by observing what we do or by explaining in class. Even though we’re amateurs and beginners, we benefit from the science of higher-level sport. He’s also very generous with his time, very patient, a beautiful big smile, encouraging and consistent.”

“George Gay, thank you for your teachings and your simple, concise advice. You helped me to cope better with swimming and to gain confidence. Thank you for your presence, your good humor and your contagious smile. Thank you for everything you and Julie put in place. Thank you for the children’s section, which allows us to move as a family. Thanks also to your team of coaches: Khalid, Julie, Tatiana, Alice, Rafaele. Thank you for sharing your passion. Thank you!”

“Georges Gay has been my coach for over 5 years, I’ve followed him through various clubs and now with Elite Triathlon. Georges is a conscientious coach who makes sure to give workouts based on the science and studies done to complement his many certifications. His weekly workouts are created according to the time of year, upcoming races and each athlete’s” pace “. We test for all 3 disciplines on a quarterly basis. I would add that Georges gives his time to all athletes regardless of age. He has no preference for one or the other! He’s always there for us, listens to our issues and gives excellent advice. Georges is an exceptional coach, making triathlon accessible to all. Personally, he’s helped me reach a level of performance I never thought I’d achieve at the age of 58, and that makes me want to keep going!”

“Georges Gay, our trainer, is always ready to listen and always gives us his 100% both technically and practically. The club atmosphere is always top-notch thanks to him, as are the results of his athletes, as the Sportstats accounts of our buddies attest!”

“Georges is co-founder and head coach of Club Élite triathlon, which has been operating in Montreal’s Verdun-Lasalle sector since 2018. A level 3 triathlon coach, he is one of the few coaches to have completed the Advanced Diploma in Coaching – In Pursuit of Excellence. His philosophy is based on democratizing triathlon by offering enthusiasts of all ages and levels specialized instruction that could be applied to the world’s greatest athletes. Georges is an exceptional teacher, always generous with explanations so that his athletes can also gain knowledge and understand the science behind his instructions. To date, his advice has paid off. To my great surprise, my times continue to improve year after year. Georges has my full confidence. His research-based approach to cutting training time while optimizing performance fits in perfectly with my schedule, and his leitmotif: do less but perform better by prioritizing quality over quantity! Thank you Georges! Your passion is visible in your beautiful smile! Your commitment makes a difference in many people’s lives!

“I’d like to highlight the work of my coach Georges Gay, from the Élite Triathlon club. Through his patience, skill and love of the sport, he was able to motivate and train us to new heights of performance. A huge thank you to this great coach for his dedication to his athletes!”

“Today I’d like to recognize our Elite triathlon club coach! He’s so dedicated, committed and innovative in his methods, which have proved their worth with our group of athletes! I’ve known Georges for a long time now, so when he launched his triathlon club with the promise of training less and performing better, I followed. Promise kept – I’ve never performed better and enjoyed training more every day! With a great group of enthusiasts, who have followed Georges practically from the start and others a little later, seduced by his program. Everyone loves Georges the coach, but also, very much, the man! Come rain or shine, Georges is always there to show us the right move, give us sound advice or a word of encouragement with his infectious good humor. He dances, sings, coaches and shares his contagious joie de vivre! Georges is not only a top-notch trainer, but also one of triathlon’s best ambassadors to institutions, schools and our business partners. He has a vision of the sport that he shares with a simplicity and conviction that makes you want to surpass yourself. Despite the pandemic, he was able to adapt, show resilience and help us all continue our passion. Coach Georges, you rock!”

“A quick word about coach Georges Gay from Elite Triathlon! A lover of triathlon and above all a lover of coaching for all levels, from beginner to elite. He’s always there for his athletes, answering questions, encouraging, explaining workouts and monitoring everyone’s progress.”

“Georges is a triathlon enthusiast. After achieving great sporting feats such as Ironman Nice and Mont-Tremblant, he started coaching more seriously. He devours the literature on the subject and will shortly be completing his level 4 DAE. He’s always on the lookout for new developments and the latest research. He integrates them into his practice, and all athletes benefit. In the field, Georges has a keen eye: he can correct and give feedback to anyone and everyone. Athletes who have put their trust in him and followed his advice and training to the letter have seen their performance soar. This man is an incredible coach! Have a great Coaches’ Week!”

“Georges Gay is passionate about triathlon, and he shares his enthusiasm with us from the very first minutes. He knows how to keep a group and family spirit in the club! He’s always ready to train and acquire new knowledge to be able to accompany and guide us in the world of triathlon.”

“I’ve known Georges for a long time now, so when he launched his triathlon club with the promise to” train less and perform better “, I was one of the1st to join the ranks of Élite triathlon. I was the perfect recruit: professional, father of 2, in love with triathlon (but even more so with my wife), it was quite a challenge for Georges to bring his promise to life. Day 1 was a promise kept, with his vision of performance: accessible to all, based on recognized indicators and training sessions that are fun to do. He even pulled off the coup de force of making me understand the value of a bodybuilding program.”
