At last week’s Gatineau Triathlon, which also served as the Canadian Championships for divisional athletes, Quebecers dominated the competition, taking all the gold medals and winning 9 of the 18 medals awarded at the end of the events.
In the women’s race, it was Noémie Beaulieu who walked away with the title of Canadian champion, with a time of 1:01:30. By taking first place in both the junior and elite races, Beaulieu certainly demonstrated incredible strength of character. Meanwhile, Kamille Larocque became Canadian runner-up, completing her race in 1:01:50.
In the men’s category, Mathis Beaulieu topped the podium twice, in the junior and elite categories, to become the Canadian champion for the 2022 season with a remarkable time of 55:21. His compatriot, Pavlos Antoniades, finished the competition in 55:33 and took the silver medal. Antoniades also won gold in the U23 race. In the junior category, Alexandre LebLanc took second place, just behind Beaulieu, with a time of 56:38.
