A partnership between the club, the municipality and the school…a project to inspire ideas!

December 4, 2024

We often ask ourselves how we can work together to develop sports, improve the well-being of athletes and make a difference in the community. The JET Triathlon Club, the town of Saint-Charles-Borromée and l’école vers l’Avenir present us with a project launched in 2024 that could inspire many!

A free youth program launched by the JET Triathlon club in Saint-Charles-Borromée: a partnership that makes a difference!

The JET Triathlon club, in partnership with Triathlon Québec and the town of Saint-Charles-Borromée, has launched an innovative, entirely free youth program this fall – a first in Quebec! The program is aimed at 5th and 6th graders at École vers l’Avenir, with 25 places available for an introduction to duathlon, combining cycling and running.

Well-thought-out logistics for young people

Training takes place once a week, every Tuesday, with youngsters picked up directly at school, then returned home or to daycare after each session. In collaboration with the municipality, registrations are taken care of, and fees are $50 starting in January for 10 weeks. Since the town subsidizes part of the cost, the parent pays only $22. This program offers an alternative or complement to the daycare service, an advantage for parents who wish to enroll their children in an enriching after-school activity. What’s more, the school plays a key role in promoting the program within the school.

A program to fill an extracurricular gap

This program responds to a real need in the community by filling the gap in extracurricular activities for young people. It’s a unique opportunity for students to discover a new sport while developing physical and social skills. The JET Triathlon Club works directly with the school management and the city to ensure optimal supervision and smooth organization.

Training adapted to each season

The sessions will take place outdoors and will be adapted to the conditions of each season:

  • Autumn: Cycling and running, once a week.
  • Winter: Running, once a week.
  • Spring: Cycling and running, once a week.
  • Summer: A week-long day camp, in collaboration with the club, to extend the summer experience.

A true community partnership

This program is made possible by an exceptional partnership:

  • The town of Saint-Charles-Borromée provides the necessary infrastructure free of charge.
  • Triathlon Québec covers the cost of season tickets for young participants.
  • The JET Triathlon club organizes and supervises the sessions.

In addition to this youth program, the JET Triathlon club offers other options for different age groups and levels, such as a sport-study program for 12 to 17 year-olds and a civilian program, accessible from age 12, which starts on September 23.

Don’t miss the opportunity to enroll your children in this unique program! Registration is now open. For more information, or to register your children, go to the Technical official website: triathlonjoliette.com.

It’s a great opportunity for youngsters to discover the pleasures of sport while being supervised in a safe and stimulating environment!
