Triathlon Québec is proud to award bursaries to up-and-coming athletes as part of its new “New Generation” bursary program. Recipient athletes are between the ages of 15 and 18, and are students in a high school or college program. The aim of these bursaries is to help these athletes on their path to the top level, more specifically by offering them financial support to defray expenses related to training camps and/or international-level competitions.
During the 2023 season, Quebec athletes distinguished themselves on several occasions. Béatrice Normand and Léandre Binette took part in the World Junior Championships in Hamburg, and also won a medal at the Canadian Junior Championships. Samantha Wood, Béatrice Filion, Shelby Lajeunesse, Léo Savoie and Isaac Lapointe took part in the North American junior championships in Sarasota, Florida, as well as distinguishing themselves on the Grand Prix Series and the Coupe Québec Junior. Finally, the majority of these athletes distinguished themselves at the Jeux du Québec held in Rimouski last July.
For this first cohort, a total of $12,500 was awarded to athletes at two levels: provincial and international. The federation aims to renew this program in 2024.
